The Best Robot Hoover
The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention. It will leave your floors clean. cheap robot vacuum is surprisingly low and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are pluses.
Make sure you regularly examine the brushes of your robot for hair tangled and large particles and clean them as needed. Certain models also automatically empty the dust bin on board and then deposit it in a larger bin at the base. This reduces the amount fine dust released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have tested. They have top-of-the-line motors that can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the top model) they utilize smart mapping to produce precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like furniture leg. They also have carpet boost, a feature which boosts the robot's power when it sees the presence of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned quickly.
Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective in removing pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate rooms with lots of people well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.
However, it's a good choice, especially if you want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used when you're at work or in school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have an auto-emptying dock, however. And, if you have to, you can switch the mopping pad to a dry one in just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its smart cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also features a self-emptying bin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.
This highly efficient mop and vacuum combination utilizes advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it also learns your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average when compared to similar models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to take off and extend its mops. This helps prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete an entire home, and it did so with only 66 percent of its battery left. It did a decent cleaning job on a variety of floors and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and cables.
It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically fills up its base, and also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
With an elegant circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba rather than the compact models this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most appealing looking in our evaluations. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It features advanced features such as enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads on its own).
It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.
As with other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, with an easy mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's still quite loud, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or at night as you try to sleep.
It's also quite expensive however, not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however it's more expensive and create more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and fills up the water tank, as well as washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and spot obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its competitors with premium features. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, though this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and could be confused with obstructions or power cords.
Its vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also comes with an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the house depending on how dirty these areas tend to be.
For larger homes it's recommended to choose models with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean one particular area of your home by using the app or voice controls. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have lot furniture. For families with busy schedules recharge functions and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to resume where it left off can be very useful.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It does a stellar job vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad and a reciprocating motion that cleans better that most mop cleaners for robots that we've tested. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, set up an area for cleaning or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to improve performance. The app has a range of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. And you can create a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like adorable eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've tried. It also comes with an app that's not as intuitive, and a smaller base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
